Historical Society
of Pennsylvania
Home to over 21 million manuscripts and graphic items, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania has a collection that encompasses 350 years of American history.
As part of its renovation project, CG designed a digital display system to showcase the Society’s artifacts. The display software is built on a content management system, allowing HSP to rotate content. Electronic visitor information screens were also developed to announce events and provide assistance to scholars, teachers and genealogists who visit HSP.
The donor recognition wall, made of two glass layers, integrates both donor names and engraved quotes from the HSP collection. Centered in the donor wall is a digital display that recognizes donors of all levels.
The 3x3 screen behind the front desk can be seen from the street allowing HSP to share images with passing by pedestrians.
This digital screen is the back side of the center screen at the front desk. This screen shows images of the collection and can be tailored to show images relevant to the exhibit placed in the case in front of the screen.
The donor wall is made up of flanking glass donor panels with a centered digital screen that shows annual contributing donors. This screen also shares the “adopted” collections.
Detail of the flanking glass donor panels. The donor names are placed on glass panels which sit in front of glass panels with images from the collections. The stainless bars which hold the glass panel have quotes from the collection running vertically up the bars.
Details of the donor wall screen story boards. The donors scroll across the screen right to left. There are 5 different sizes which represents the donation amounts.
